Root Help Rooting my M8

I went to HTC DEV. com following these instructions.

When I type in this code this is the error i am getting




I can not figure out what I am doing wrong. It says to select all other devices when going down the list. I tried it by selecting the M8 also and i have tried it many different ways and no luck.

As I suspected.

Verizon went to HTC when HTCdev.com started and said, it's simple - if you want us to sell your phones, you will not support unlocking the bootloader.

HTCdev.com has determined that you have a Verizon phone (CID = carrier identification) and won't give you the code no matter what you try.

All is not lost - you may be able to go directly to s-off using Sunshine, something that most of us highly recommend anyway. Plus, it's really your only shot.

Depending on whether you're running 4.4.4 you may need to get tricky and try weaksauce with sunshine.

No worries if you want to ask again in the sunshine thread - I'm not on Verizon but I've read a lot of folks there have been successful and may have tips for you. Posting there might get you their attention.

Thanks for the help. I got it rooted. The main thing I wanted it for is so tasker can control my gps and nfc . I have some learning to do I would like te turn it into a Google play edition.

I didn't know you could do that? I like since too much! I only rooted my phone so I can use my ps3 controller on on it...

You're going to need S-off if you want to go the full GPE conversion route, not a process to be undertaken without reading up first. Suggest just trying a GPE style Rom first like Sky Dragon - doesn't need the firmware flashing which you can't do anyway unless you're s-off
