Root Help rooting mytouch 4g without a computer

Is it possible to root a mytouch 4g without a computer? Everything that I've seen so far says I need to install visionary and visionary is no longer in the app market. I was a iPhone user and I'm new to android and was told that rooting is similar to jailbreaking an iPhone so I'm really interested. Also how do you download movies with the mt4g? Thank you very much in advance for ur help...

You can download visionary directly to the phone. just allow installations from unknown sources in settings under applications. Also, if you have something misnamed out something thdy needs to be extracted, id suggest Root Explorer from the market.

I'm really new to this so I apologize if I'm asking stupid questions but how do I download visionary to my phone if I don't have a computer? That's the problem that I'm stuck with. I don't have access to a computer. also I don't know what u r talking about when u mentioned thdy. Thanks for your help.

Just visit the visionary page and download just like how you would download on a computer. It's the exaxt same thing, just an on a smaller touch screen.

Im stuck in the same situation, but i have a MAC and i cant seem to root my 4g. I need help on the url to download visionary and what other things i need in order to root my phone.

Just google"visionary root" from your phones internet browser and download the app. Its very simple. I've rooted all my phones without use of computer because is more fun to do. Trust me it was a lot harder back in the days of the g1

Here, read the first post of this thread THOROUGHLY. If you can't figure it out with this guide then you seriously shouldn't be rooting your phone. I'm not being snotty, I'm being sincere. These root guides assume a minimal level of technical competence. If you don't have that you shouldn't be screwing around with root access.

I agree. I was a noob once with my g1 2 years ago and on xda they ate me alive. I didn't get it until I decided to read the threads then I felt like an idiot. Since then I'm rooting lots of phones plus the process has gotten so much easier. Sporting the g2 now and love it. Running sparksmod hot sauce at 1.5 mhz
