Help Help! S3 browser is making me crazy!

Bluechild

Lurker
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE and I use the standard Google search widget for all my internet searches. Normally, when I tap into the search bar all my previous searches appear underneath in black writing with a grey cross next to them. However, now I get just 3 searches which are in purple writing with an upwards-left slanting arrow next to them in grey rather than the cross. These 3 searches do not appear to be the last 3 done, but just random ones from all my searches. I cannot access any other previous searches without manually individually deleting each search and allowing others to appear. Clearing the web/browser history etc does not remove the purple searches from the list either. I hadn't changed any settings that would explain this change in the browser. I have since tried everything to do with internet settings and even downloaded a cleaning app with no result. Now I know some people don't see see browser history as their friend (for their own reasons!) but I find it really useful and this is driving me insane. Please help!

I'm afraid that's a change made in the latest version of the Google Search bar. I hadn't really noticed it, but now you point it out, I'm not sure I like it: seems a bit of a retrograde move to me!

You could revert to the previous version of Google Search by removing the latest update:

Settings
Apps
Google Search
Uninstall updates

Ha ha, genius! And so simple. The only thing I didn't think of. I have automatic updates turned off and I didn't remember updating Google search. Thanks so much, you've made my day and my wife is happy too- I've been in a bad mood all morning trying to sort this out!
