Help! Sd card not recognised.

HELLO ALL.

My phone stopped recognising my 4gb samsung micro sd card that came with the phone about 3 weeks back. The only option it gives me is to re format. I don't want to loose my photos. We have recently had a new baby and there are a lot of photos on there that are irreplaceable. I have looked for fixs online. I ask here if anyone has had similar problems and if they can help. Thanks in advance.

1) As you already know now - if it's important back it up. Then back up the backup.

2) Mount the SD card in the computer. (Buy an adapter if you have to - they're about $3.) Go to PhotoRec - CGSecurity and download PhotoRec. While you're there, download Test Disk.

Burn PhotoRec to a CD and boot the computer from the CD. Run the recovery software. If there's anything on the visible partitions of the card, PhotoRec will recover it. (You restore to a different card, drive, etc., of course.)

Anything missing? Burn Test Disk to a CD and boot with it. Look for missing partitions. Activate them, one at a time. Reboot each time with PhotoRec and let it do its thing.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

If the files still exist, these programs will recover them.

Oh, did I mention that, although they're worth more than everything Microsoft has ever written, they're free?

And be prepared to wait. PhotoRec takes time to run. I don't mean minutes, I mean whole, multi-volume novels.
