Help - sd card problem

Hello, just a general question regarding a new sd card.

Today, I got a 32G micro sd card for my Samsung Galaxy phone (not sure about the specific model, or if it matters). Basically, I got it to put all my music on, as my mp3 player broke recently.

The main problem is that whenever I add certain albums from my laptop, the sd card becomes damaged, and it's getting quite annoying having to add everything back afterwards.

Can anybody tell why it's doing this and how to prevent it?
Any help would be great, thanks.

EDIT: (Another thing I should add, I'm still unsure as to what the correct way to unmount my phone/device is. Do I just click safely remove on the laptop and then unplug the lead, or do I press turn off usb storage on the phone? I'm not very good with technology stuff)
