Help HELP ! SD card trouble

Hello everyone,
Its kind of a long story so I'll just go from point to point.
Mother bought a samsung galaxy ace s5830 on 2010.
I used her 4gb sd card that came with her galaxy ace for a nokia phone that i had that time.(Nokia 5230)
Now, 2012, i bought a samsung galaxy ace s5830i. It came with a 2gb sd card.
I tried to change the 4gb sd card with my 2gb sd card, but my galaxy ace s5830i isn't reading the card.
So my question is, Why can't it read? Do i have to do something to the sd card? I have tried reformatting the sd card but the result was still the same, So please can i have some help.
Lastly thanks for reading thread, i know its quite long and poorly constructed.

Details of the 4GB Sd card.
Its is from Scandisk.
There is a number 2 on the top right of the card.
Not sure if it is important, is it the class?
 
Alright, i have been doing some reading and perhaps the reason my galaxy ace is unable to read the sd card is because i formatted the sd card in my nokia phone before swapping the sd cards.
I don't know, maybe that could be the issue.
But I'm still open for other suggestions.

Format the card from the ACE itself, might work then
 
That could be the possibility as mentioned in post #4 but its the first time I have heard of a class 2 card. I thought min was class 4 cards were bundled in the mobiles phones

No, the default cards given with the phones are usually class 1 or 2. I am guessing class 1 because some cards don't have any class rating written on them so they must be class 1, but they never give class 4, at least i have never seen anyone getting it.
