thats the error i keep getting when trying to update. it still says my phone is not supported :( any thoughts? i have the leaked 4.03 version, non rooted. thank u

NM i figured it out. nothing different at all from 4.03 that i notice. lil pissed off that i spent the whole night on this LOL

write down ur serial number, then go into tool in kies, click on firmware upgrade and initialization, enter ur SN its 11 digits. then underneath for device, enter in ALL CAPS SGH-I727 then click ok. from there it tells u what to do. goodluck

When I do as you said.....go into Kies tools and click on on Filmware upgrade and initialization....that is where I get the message that started this thread "SGH-I727 does not support initializing" I can't enter a serial number anywhere...am I missing something?

sry i was typing fast and should have been more clear. removed ur battery that 11 digit number is there. then BEFORE plugging ur phone into kies, thats where u enter ur SN and the device info and then click ok and go

Thanks for the advise...but when I enter it I am getting some weird characters....will not save it. <sigh> Wish AT&T would just give the new release like normal without having to deal with this software...this stinks.

damn really? maybe it cant be updated that way any more, i had to do it that way becuase i had the leaked ICS of 4.03....which is actuallly better than this crap they put out, my phone is useless half the time. make sure ur using a samsung usb cord. not sure if it matters or not. are u sure ur entering it correctly? all caps for SGH-I727 and the SN will be 11 digits

I had same issue and had to first flash to a different stock firmware. In the instructions it says the three firmwares that are supported.

You're right there. I originally tried whatever USB cord was handy, but Kies couldn't identify the phone. Found the Samsung cable and no problem at all...
