Help help: should i do a factory reset

since getting the ics update, the following affects me

1. have the text set to vibrate when receiving, but it doesn't
2. can't get exchange contacts to sync
3. just went to look at picture, tells me gallery is not installed, (and when i looked, it isn't).

Does anyone have simple solutions, or should I just try a factory reset?

how do i do a hard reset on the maxx. I am assuming this is different than just factory setting reset on settings/privacy etc. menu? Like holding power button, volume button, doing the hokey pokey and what not?

It seems like there are a few different resets, the one I did was turn on the phone but did not swipe it to uplock and while the key circle in the center was lit I pressed the power and the volume down buttons at the same time and held it for about 10 seconds until it powered down. I don't recall if it turned back on or if I had to, worth a shot.

I did a factory reset to hopefully help with the battery issue. The only thing I see that it did help was the horizontal/portrait toggle. After ICS, it was slow to turn or didn't turn at all. I wish my battery life would improve. I'm at home all day and have a charger here and in the car so it's not a HUGE problem, but if I worked and/or was a heavy user, I'd be PO'ed!

I did the OTA update of ICS a couple days ago and my phone was not was not working correctly with many of the apps screwed up. I knew a hard reset was the way to go. A day after the reset and installing all my apps, my phone is better than before. It's much more snappier. I hope battery life will be better but time will tell.

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the same as a battery pull.

factory reset as above. now have contacts syncing and vibration with text. right thing to do for me.

i recommend users getting apbrain/fastweb installer first. this syncs all your free apps, then you can select and get them pushed to phone.
