Root Help stopping the OTA System updates

I dont want to update but the damn thing pops up constantly. Keeping pushing "update later". How can I get ride of this bogus notification. I'm currently on a warp sequent (2?) rooted with cwm recovery.

Download Fotakill.apk http://db.tt/nF30Dbil

Have PC or root file mngr of some sort. I used ROM Toolbox's root browser. Move file to : system/apps and install. Have another app convert/force/lock FOTAkill.apk into a system app. I used Titanium Backup :D reboot to cwm - clear cache/dalvik cache - reboot. I've seen no more since

hey, thats an idea for my AIO tool, i could easily add otakill install to it. ill probably work on that later

I tried the FOTAkill. Downloaded it to PC sent it to the SDcard and tried to install it in the system/...somethin and it wouldnt take it. So then I tried Disable.OTA.Updates.zip Flashed that through CWM using Rom Manager and that didnt work either. I didnt erase anything though as in caches. Just flashed and rebooted. I need specific STEP BY STEP directions on how to do these things though cuz I'm new to all this stuff...obviously. Thanks for the help. Dont wanna update it cuz im tired of setting my phone up every single time i root it. (had a bad few days with CM10...phone doesnt like that one)

you have to enable installation from unknown sources in the phones settings. or just use my tool instead, i set it up to install fotakill for you

A step by step guide for the learners:

1. Acquire FOTAKill.apk

2. Use a root file explorer to move it into /system/apps.

3. Reboot

4. Use Titanium Backup to find the FOTAKill app and merge it into a system app. (I can't exactly tell you how to do this because my SD card went belly up and TB requires it.)

you dont gotta do all that, all you gotta do is enable the option for unknown sources, then run the apk in any file explorer, you dont even need a root explorer

mind you, installing it with my tool should work just as well, download my newest version of the AIO tool, click the big OTA-Kill button. also id kinda like to know if it works properly, no chance of anything getting messed up, just a chance it may not go to the right place in which case it would need to be adjusted, though we shouldnt really have that issue

:( Mine wouldn't disable updates until after I installed FOTAkill, moved file into system/apps, clear caches, rebooted again:o

i dunno, never actually used it myself, so moving it may be necessary, but i know clearing caches is necessary

well thats kinda screwed up, i could make my tool do it automatically though im sure if it doesnt work out of the box
