Help Help to replace the stock dialer

Guys, I have looked high and low for help with this but I can't find anything anywhere.

I want to be able to replace the laggy stock dialer with DialerOne but I can't find the stock dialer in the apps list to be able to do anything with the defaults.

The main reason for wanting to change this is because the stock dialer takes - no joke - about 5+ seconds to switch the screen on meaning I can't see who is calling or answer the call. This is absolutely intolerable, and I've put up with it for a while.

Am I right in thinking that having a 1000+ SMS messages does things to the dialer or something? Vaguely remember someone saying something about this, but I'd at least like the choice to use another dialer.

Any help is much appreciated people.

I'm rooted and JiT'd, running 2.1-update1 on .504 (don't ask).

Thanks,

When I installed DialerOne and opened it up it asked me if I wanted it to be my default dialer. Dial out with it, try and accept a phone call and it should accept it in DialerOne.

I did this before I remoded and installed 2.2.

Or do a backup and then clear your message history...see if that helps the default dialer.

If by installing DialerOne it never asks about being the default dialer app....download a 4rd dialer app and install it....then find DialerOne in the app list and make sure it is listed as the default.

Thanks beau420, but no dice; doesn't matter what dialer I download, I'm presented with nothing but the stock dialer upon calling out - no default selection screen to speak of.

That is weird. Probably easiest to do a backup and reinstall/reflash.

Not sure if anyone else still has any suggestions you haven't tried yet?
