One of our past members, funkylogik, got an Android stick to use for TV in the UK.

Sky thought it was rooted and it wasn't.

He tried everything, never fixed it.

Check out "Root Checker"

I'll bet it's not rooted, just built kinda goofy.

Sky is very strict, plus ridiculous.

Rooting has nothing to do with defeating protection against media piracy.

Sky thinks that a rooted Android is like a jailbreak iPhone - and it's not the same at all.

Is one of Vodafone's own brand phones, which are from various Chinese OEMs? Sky Go can be very particular about what it runs on, like if it's not a mainstream brand like Samsung, LG, HTC, Motorola, etc. it may not work, and might even assume it's rooted, when in fact it's not.
