Help HELP to Update My S2 GT-I9100P

Hi everyone, i have been looking around and i can't seem to find how to upgrade my 4.0.3 ICS software on my device...I am a rookie with this kind of thing...

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100P locked to o2 Network, details on picture here:

I want the new Jelly Bean software and any help of what to do and install it would be great...

Since there has been no JB release so far for the, "P",variant you would have to flash a non, "P", variant firmware and lose the phones NFC capabilities as well as voiding your warranty.

Do you want to do that?
 
Why not look for a custom rom? Or if you want officual jb releases, hop over to www.sammobile.com sign up and search th firmwares section for your device. There are a lot of jb officials over there dependent on your country and carrier.

I know vanilla rootbox have some 9100p varients of tyeir custom 4.1.2 roms.

As per my last post... there have been no official JB releases for the, "P", variant phone what-so-ever, so far... so, no point in visiting SamMobile looking for one just yet. :rolleyes:

This would require you to, "root", your phone first before installing an un-official, custom, ROM.
 
Ironass, there is several official jb releases over at sammobile.... Take a look... Theyre there. I was over there today looking when i posted my reply.

Very true with regadrds to the rooting of the phone when using customs, correct me if im wrong here, but i do believe a lot of custom roms have an auto root type integration??

Aaahhh... My bad... Checked again... There are loads of roms for the p varient. But "not" jb roms.... Durr... Lol sorry. Obv wasnt lookin properly

Yes, as i am sick of waiting for this official release i would like help in the right direction what to do as i dont understand the Dummies guide haha so am a ****** basically lol

There is only one other level below the, "Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide"... the, "Don't Do It Guide". :ahhhhh:

Apart from losing your NFC capability and warranty, you will no longer be able to update using Samsungs PC Suite, Kies, or OTA, as per the warning in #1.7...

If you still wish to go ahead, you will need to download the JB firmware to your PC. I suggest that you go for the latest, unbranded, release, LSN, which can be downloaded, here.

You then need to carefully read and follow the instructions in #1.7 of the, "Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide", and the link it refers you to, here, which gives step-by-step instructions and a video on flashing firmware using Odin. Do not use the ICS firmware they refer to and instead, use the JB firmware I have linked you to for LSN. The flashing method is the same.

Make sure you back-up everything before flashing as per #1.2 of the guide.

Hang on.... If its old news then why only a day or two ago did you "ironass" state that there were no official jb releases for the p varient?????

That information was correct at that time, as you found out 6 days ago and posted here, but where Samsung firmware releases are concerned, that information can change, not just on a daily basis but hourly and even minute by minute.

I was referring to the fact that the update information had been already posted here, SGSII "P" variant gets Jelly Bean at last, and here, Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide, as well as, here, some 12 hours previously and was therefore not a new revelation to forum readers but good news all the same to P users. ;)
 
Ah i see... I dont get a great deal of time to read round the forums... And really... 6 days??? Wow... Ive lost like 4 days somewhere it feels mor like two lol.

Mikelfx41 did you get jelly bean running on your phone? I have a GT-I9100p on o2 as well and I'm fed up waiting.
 
Thanks, stupid question, if I installed the Samsung p version instead of the O2 non NFC version would I keep NFC and lose the o2 bloat? Also as it's a p variant and o2 haven't released it I can't update over kies (unless I'm missing something and you can force kies to use specific firmware.


Edit - found this on Sammobile. If I'm following the dummies guide properly, this should be the unbranded version for my phone and should install with odin. Yes, no, maybe?

My bad lucky 13! In my haste I should have said that JB is NOT available on O2 UK for the P variant. The only P variant releases for JB are all carrier branded firmware. The download that you refer to is for LPH for the P variant and is on ICS, Android 4.0.4. Apologies for the confusion... put it down to senility! :rolleyes:

This NFC version is more hassle than its worth. I don't even use it. I've heard that o2 have released jelly bean for the GT-I9100. If I can find that should it work but without the NFC?

Sweet, is this the unbranded version from Samsung? I can see on Sammobile it just says United Kingdom / island with no operator next to it.
