Help help! two questions

I've had my mesmerize for roughly one month and have run into a couple of problems. It seems that when I am talking on the phone I do not receive any audible text notifications. I do get notified in the notification bar, but that isn't helpful as I can't see it until I'm done talking! Any ideas on how to fix this?

Also, is there an external button or easy way to silence the ringer? Sometimes it is inconvenient to let the song play for a whole 30 seconds when I don't want to answer the call or just need a quick 'quiet'! Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know the answer to your first question... I seem to remember reading somewhere how to turn that feature on or off... I'll keep looking.

And to silence a caller without hanging up on them, just press the volume key on the left side of the phone when someone is calling you.

You can also swipe the red button on the call screen to silence the call and send the caller to your voicemail. There are also "call reject" messages that you can create that will appear in the bottom of the screen. Swipe this menu during an incoming call and select one of those messages "I'm in a meeting, I'll call you when I'm done" and it automatically sends the caller to VM and sends them a text message with your pre-selected message.
