I'm trying to flash CyanogenMod 10.1 on my LG Spectrum. However, I'm at the point where I'd like to do a nandroid backup using ROM Manager. I touch

DragonSlayer95,

Using ROM Manager I verified that ClockworkMod was flashed. It was at the current version.

I wouldn't know what to do if I were to manually go into recovery.

Yoinx,

Yes, I used the pwnage tool to root, and that was successful.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You should have had two options. 1 to root. The other to unlock the bootloader. If you didn't unlock the bootloader you can't install CWM, and you also can't actually boot to CWM, you'll always boot to the stock recovery.

Try again, but unlock the bootloader.

When it rains, it pours...

While the phone was rebooting, I picked it up from my desk. It slipped out of my hands and landed on my lap, with the back coming off, and the battery falling out.

I put the battery back in and powered it up, only to watch the phone ask me what language I wanted. The phone did a factory reset.

It must have done this, since the phone was in the middle of rebooting when the battery came out.

Usually, I have good luck with technology, but I'm starting to feel like Schleprock. (you older people will know who I'm referring to.)

TBH, I wouldn't worry *too* much about a backup unless you have something that you don't want to lose. You can always use the sotard to get back to stock-ish. Or worst case, just cab flash it back to stock.

I can't recall there being two options. I used the "Spectrum Root-Pawnage" tool, and just ran the 'bootloader_pwn.bat' file.

I now have to start over, so I'll check on that. Thanks for the suggestions.

....sigh. wish me luck

You can't do a back up using ROM manager, you have to go into CWM and do it from there.
Since when? I use Rom Manager to do backups all the time, especially when I want the correct date. You're just advised not to install CWM Recovery through there as it doesn't always flash correctly.

It never worked right for me, and trying to get it to work just caused issues, I have stopped even trying to use it. Everything it does can be done by other apps without all the problems. Just my personal experience with it :-P

I got it to work! ... and looking back it sure can be easy to do this.

I don't know what I did different. Maybe the accidental factory reset was the cure. The issue that I had before still gave me the same error message, however, this time, it actually "Backed up the Current ROM" upon reboot.

It took about 90 minutes to complete the whole process. It's nice seeing Android 4.2.2 on the phone. I hope the performance is a little better and will allow me to postpone an upgrade for a while.

While I complain about the hours that I put in to this, I can tell that it's not even close to what the developers put into making this available to us.

Thanks for all your help.
