Root help updating to new roms

I have the droid and just went to 2.1. Would like to update to a new rom. What do I need. Please post some links for me.and is overclocking safe on the droid! this crap rocks Thanx

Even though you have successfully flashed before (you did not state the method, take your time and learn how to do it correctly and prepare yourself for any problems.

i Have rooted the phone. I used droidroothelper. I have read alot to get to this point but need alittle more help update to new or different roms to get back things like lighted keyboard. I totally understand the process and that I am a newbie but not to sure on the info need to complete. I have beed in recovery screen. I also have the nexus one boot screen.
