HELP! USB connection...

Hi,

I've got an Evo Shift with a dead screen. It still turns on, but I obviously can't do anything. I was hoping to access it still though, through USB. So my question is, is there a way to mount it from the PC side? Since I don't have a screen, I can't mount it (I'm kicking myself for not setting it to auto-mount).

Please let me know if this is possible!

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to Android Forums, Jules! :)

If you had debugging turned on, there is always ADB (Android Debug Bridge), but generally people don't have that enabled by default. You might be able to get into the file system if you boot into recovery, but you'll need to know the keypress combinations to do so and without the screen, it will be guesswork at best.

Just to be clear you mean the the screen is dark, not that the screen comes on but is unresponsive.

In either case, assuming it's the screen itself that's bad, it might just be easier to replace it. It's not that hard if you are a little patient and have some basic mechanical skills. If it's the LCD or the digitizer, either are fairly inexpensive for the part (~$25 U.S.) I found this place that carries them .... HTC Evo Shift 4G LCD Screen Replacement.
