HELP! vold.fstab file messed up

jjyyll

Lurker
Hi, I have an Eken GC10X tablet, and I was attempting to swap my external SD with my internal SD so I can have more room to download stuff. I followed a video called :

MEMORY SWAPPING: Changing Internal SD to External SD in Funbook Infinity P275

Sorry, I cant the link, but its on youtube just type that in.
Upon restarting my tablet, I went to settings and clicked on storage to see if it worked. However, once I clicked on storage, the settings immediately crashed, and a message popped up saying: "unfortunately, settings has stopped". I then went to the camera, and immediately it crashed as well stating: "no external storage available". My external SD card is in the slot. Thus, my tablet is not recognizing it. I even tried hooking my tablet up to my computer and nothing shows up. I have tried a factory reset, and it did not solve this issue.

I was able to download apps so I went back and downloaded the ES File Explorer app. Upon installing it I went to go check the volld.fstab file. I went there and rather than displaying the normal text that is usually seen in that file it displayed this:

Failed to open file (java.io.IOException
at com.estrongs.android.pop.cupcake.app.bt.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.Run(Thread.java:856)

I have no idea how this happened. Also my tablet is running on jelly bean 4.2.2 Is there a way I can just re-install android? Possibly through recovery mode? Please help!!!

Hey jjyyll :)
Just wanted you know you arent being ignored.
If someone knows something about that device, theyll reply so theres no need to bump the thread.
I think the problem youre going to have is that manufacturers of a device like that dont tend to publish a factory image and there isnt any 3rd-party developer support.
I hate telling people to "google it" but thats the only thing i can suggest until someone replies :(
Id try searching for a forum that supports that device if Android Forums doesnt have one.
Good luck jjyyll

Does this help EKEN Tablet PC,Car DVR Support Download Center
If you can reflash the firmware, that should fix it

Ok so I tried doing this, by first going to the recovery mode on my tablet. Then, I downloaded the firmware from their site and put them into a flash drive (my tablet has a USB 2.0 port) and once in recovery mode, there was an option called "apply update form TF card". I select it and my flash drive shows up, but the file is not there. I might be doing it wrong I'm not sure. I am currently looking into sideloading it from my computer, but I have not done that before so it's taking me a while to figure out. If anyone has any solutions please let me know!

YES! I fixed it! I'm considering making a video in case anyone else has this problem. But in a nutshell. I basically downloaded the firmware from their site, burned that file onto my SD, and booted it through my SD card and it reformatted everything.

Excellent man! Glad you got there
Yeah you should do a vid or write a guide to help others in your situation. Thats the android way ;)
