Help help - what could it be - I turn my phone off but battery down to 0%

good day
please help
what could it be:

I turn my phone (Galaxy Note 3) off for the night..

but in the morning it is a bit warm..

when I turn it on back in the morning I see that the battery is down to 22% from 80% in just 8 hours

if it would be from say 60% charge or longer it goes to 0%

*sometimes* (i say 50/50 of times) even with an adequate charge my phone will not turn on at all UNLESS plugged into power/charging .. once the logo comes up .. I can disconnect the power :/

my battery drains very quickly through out the day .. 2 hours with heavy usage .. and just 4 hours if in airplane mode / minimal usage

I changed to another battery to no avail :/

went to Samsung Service Center.. they said we will reinstall your phone .. all data.. all software will be erased.. and see what happens.. :/
to rull out a software issue..

I was not ready to do that :/

I could reset it my self and see
or option 2 I have lollipop 5.0 update downloaded and ready to be installed .. maybe that is easier?

this indicates some internal damage?

or what?

what could I do?

I've moved your thread into the Galaxy Note 3 subforum so that fellow users might be able to weigh in. (For reference, The Lounge is for non-Android discussion - your thread probably wouldn't get much support in there. :thumbsupdroid: )

When you say that you turn your phone off at night, are you fully powering it down through the power menu? Or are you just leaving it in standby?

ohh no i fully tirn it off..

dialog pops up .. asking ..

Power Off
Airplane
Restart..

I select Power Off .. an it Shuts down .. all the way ..
takes some time to come back on ..
 
Wow, that battery drain definitely should not be happening if the phone is actually turned off.

How long has this been going on? Did anything change with the device before it started? Has it ever gotten wet?
