Help Help! Widget has blanked screen and now I can't get it back!

Hi...
And help, please..!!

I am new to the Flytouch Superpad and new to Android. It came with a mini SD card full of apps, and I installed some utilities widget that allows you to save power by switching off various features (eg., GPS, Wifi, etc.) with a single click, in order to save power.

One of these options was the Display.
Like the risk-taking explorer I am, I pressed this without thinking twice.
And now wished I hadn't.

I'm now blacked out. I can't get my display back, no matter what I press.
It was working fine before this.

Unfortunately I can't remember the app/widget name, and I can't find it either by browsing through the market (I think I might recognise it if I saw it again...).

Anyway, I can successfully power off the device and re-start it, and I see the various boot screens - Starts with "Android World", then the little green Android figure in the top left of the screen, then the white background with other text on it ("Tim 6", "ibex Flytouch 3" "www.apad.tv", then the ghostly blue android logo with the spiralling plasma wave around it... then blackness.

I have it plugged in to the DC power source and the little green light is on, so I don't believe the problem is a low battery.
I've tried pressing every button combination I can think off, but it just looks dead.

I'm prepared to hard reset if I have to - which I thought involved simply pushing in the little recessed switch underneath, but all this seems to do is turn the power off again. And the same problem arises when I go through the above boot sequence.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? Can anyone advise on what I can do to get back to "normal"...?

Thanks in advance.
Paul.

The reset button on the back is just a soft reset. There is a 'return to factory' reset involving pressing and holding either the volume up or volume down (I cant remember which) while turning it on...try that. If that won't work you can re-flash the tablet, download Tims latest SuperPad2 Flytouch3 Hybrid Tim Rom
read the tips and howtos and go for it!

Aha - For the record I discovered that the factory reset requires holding down BOTH the Menu button and the Back (front panel) button together while re-powering.

That got me to factory reset and allowed me to fix my no-screen problem. But, what a pain to have to do that and lose all the installed apps and settings!

Also, for the record, I believe the offending widget was "Power Control", which I think comes installed with Android - certainly it did with my Andr 2.2.

All I can say is, be careful - esp with the Display feature. I've also since learnt that it is apparently a common problem with inexperienced Android device users!

I didn't get to try this remedy, but if anyone else falls in to the same trap as me, perhaps a less drastic solution is to try plugging your device into a big screen with the Mini HDMI cable. I don't know if the display switch affects this in the same way of course, but could be worth a try.
I'm not going to experiment with that myself, since I've just re-installed my apps and I don't want to have to go through that again in case it doesn't work...!

Thanks for that... I'll try to remember it!! The volume up & power on combination is for the P041 model update procedure!!

Good point with the HDMI.. perhaps next time :D
