Help Help with apps that T9 dial, import facebook pics to contacts, and/or Speed dial

I love this phone, I just need to get a few things back that I am used to.....

1. Are there any dialer apps that allow you to dial by typing out the name via the letters on the dialpad (T9 style)? Preferable one that retains the ICS look?

2. Are there any apps that properly sync Facebook Pics to my contacts? I tried 'syncmypix' in the market but it is really a low resolution despite checking the 'import high resolution photo' in the settings of the app.

3. How about speed dial apps?

I've arrived at the Galaxy Nexus with years of experience on Sense. I really liked (what apparently was) the dialer experience on Sense. I love this phone but solving these issues would make the transition much easier!

I can't help you nut I like your thinking. I was trying to figure out how to save a picture from facebook to the phone.

I think most of the dialers in android market can do bullet 1 and bullet 3. You can search for Go Dialer , Touchpal dialer, Youlu addressbook, RocketDial .
RocketDial supports 1-99 speed dials if you want a lot of speed dial contacts .

for the facebook pic, android 4.0 closed the hole that 3rd party contact application used in 2.X android version. Originally these contact application can read from restricted database to read Facebook contacts (pics also). But in android 4.0, this way is closed. I am afraid you won't see dialer that supports facebook contacts shortly.

Friend caster for facebook sync. spelling? Friendcastor? seen it few different ways. don't use it. Might end up having to...

Thanks for that information (as disappointing as it is). However, if they 'closed the loophole', how does Syncmypix get it done? It doesn't do it well b/c the pics are all blocky but it certainly syncs pics. Maybe they will come to a high res solution!

I went into each contact which were my "speed dial" contacts on my DINC2 and touched the little star icon on each one. That helped with the speed dial issue.

Next, I went into my frequently dialed contact's Facebook photos and chose to set one of them as a contact photo. That looks better too though it is not as ideal as a Facebook sync would be.

Still haven't figured out the T9 entry issue.

I figured out a great way to adjust to the lack of speed dials.

I came from a DINC1 and then a DINC2 and both had 9 speed dials. I've used the same 9 speed dials for years (#1 of course was voicemail). I had been using the star method (see previous post) but I've found what (for me) seems to be a much better way.

1. Find a spot on the screen and add the 1x1 widget "Direct Dial" and I chose my first speed dial.
2. I repeated step one then dragged the second contact widget on top of the first, making a folder (later renamed 'speed dial').
3. I continued to do this until I had my 8 speed dials - then I added another so that I had my familiar configuration of speed dials in a 3x3 layout when I open the folder.
4. I rearranged them into the order that I'm used to seeing (on my DINC1/DINC2 speed dial screens) and I positioned the new Speed Dial folder onto my main home page just above the dialer. Works great! I may move it into the lower launcher tray.
