Help Help with battery, went from 17hrs to 9

So for black friday I had my phone at 16, almost 17 hours on pretty heavy usage, internet, texting, and lots of internet browsing, some music(teenager). And it lasted me forever, but now my phone is dieing under 9-10 hours with barley any usage. I haven't installed any apps. I've shut everything off, even auto sync which I used to always have and got almost 17 hours with. I don't even text now and my phone dies quickly.
Like I said, no apps have been installed barley anything running in the background, have already looked into that. But the funny thing is my Display is shooting up from 40-50% in the battery usage and I'm not even turning it on. This has been happening for a couple of days, I've tried just about everything. So if you guys have any idea, let me know! Thanks!

That is as of today, maybe my battery is fried? But any help will be good. thanks again!

Looks like youve installed Facebook, and its likely checking for updates at a high enough frequency to cause a noticeable difference in battery life

Like I said, nothing new has been installed. Facebook has always been there. yesterday my phone did the same thing, and then today it's doing a lot better. I'm completely baffled.... I haven't touched anything/turned anything off/removed anything...

I just realized I uninstalled fb day 1, and forgot it came preloaded, which is why its appearance under battery usage was odd to me.

What insight I can offer is that this phone uses amazingly little (almost no) juice at all when its in standby. So if one day I use it for only twenty minutes to srf the Web and nothing else, the life will be in excess of 36 hours (35.5 hours of standby is normal). Lets say another day I use the Web for 5 hours and nothing else. The life will be maybe 16 hours. My point is that on days where your usage took up very little battery, the life seems awesome and on days where you used it alittle heavier, it will seem not as awesome but still good. So the standby time is really unfairly distorting the big picture of how good our battery life really is. What seems like moderate to heavy usage may not have been because you could have been using apps that werent really cpu intensive and you were using it throughout the day, making it seem like you were using the phone much more than you actually were. Even you said that today the life seemed to be better, andd thats probably beause you used it slightly less, equating to a huge difference in battery life, simply because standby uses almost 0 juice. So I wouldnt be worried about the variances in battery life; it is normal, and if you dont believe me, dont use your phone from full charge and tell me how many days it takes for your battery to die (to relieve your fears that your battery is whacked)

Edit: in case your experiment fails, tell the store you have a mafunctioning battery

But the thing that I'm explaining is that on black Friday i used the phone NON-STOP, meaning texting, internet, music etc was the whole day. And now these past couple of days the phone dies quickly without me even using it. What's the normal time it takes for the battery to fully charge? I checked mine out and it took from it being dead to go 100% it only took it 2.5hours.

Have you by chance installed the app No Lock recently? Some of the resident experts here claim it will drain your battery.

On a more serious note the one single item I have found to drain a battery is the screen. I find that keeping it off when not in use and reducing the brightness when possible helps on my battery life more than anything.

He has stated he hasnt installed any apps. No Lock has drained my battery also, the expert seems to be correct. All conditions considered, it sounds as if the op battery is defective

Nop don't even know what that app is! haha But as of right now I'm down to 65% in 6 hours, so it's doing a lot better and it "fixed" it self. But I'll be heading to sprint tomorrow to see what they say and I'll let all of you know how that goes.

I think I might of figured out what was wrong... Auto adjust screen power was unchecked and I'm positive before blackfriday I always had it checked. So I'll conduct another test before going to sprint and I'll let you guys know tomorrow night how this went.

That could definitely help if you were in conditions that would have kept your screen in a brighter mode.

The cell standby is really high. You were probably in a low signal area. I've noticed that when i'm in a low signal area (1 bar to 3 bars max, sometimes roaming off verizon), the battery will only last at max 12 hours, with low usage. When I'm in good sprint coverage (2 bars minumum, but mostly 4-5 bars). I can get the phone to last 20 hours with moderate usage.
