Help with email app

I'm new to this forum so please correct me if I'm posting in the wrong section.

Yesterday I bought a Note 3 (also new to Android) and I have correctly setup my email account with Gmail and one with Yahoo.

My problem is that the Gmail emails are coming in on two apps.
One is the Gmail app it self the other is a mail app that may be a Samsung app, it's called "Email".

It's annoying to always have two notifications for every email.

Is there a way to disable one of those apps?

Sure there is. Go to system settings, then Application Manager, then the All tab. Scroll down to the email app and press Disable.

Thanks for your help and your quick reply.
I had tried what you suggest but every time I get a new email everything goes back to the way it was.
Meaning two apps are delivering emails for the gmail address.

I don't have my phone with me right now so I'm trying to do this from memory.

In settings, go to accounts. Then tap Google and uncheck sync email. This will stop the emails from going into the gmail app but it will still come into the "Email" app.
