help with email apps please

Hi people
This is my first post and I'm new to android here go's

I have been using k9 mail for about 2 month and all of a sudden it has stopped receiving mail I can send fine I have tried uninstalling and re-installing and it will only call mail up to the 24-9-12 then when it polls it doesn't obtain anymore. My server is pop3 and I use my pc as the main source using the recent: option so it collects mail even if I open it on my phone .
Imap4 isn't an option because I leave my mail on my server for backup and theres in excess of 10, 000 mail on there. I have tried another stock app thats already on my phone (galaxy s3) and I get the same problem which gets me wondering is it the apps or Ics or the phone?

Any input or ideas will be appreciated Thankyou

It's not the 'local folder size' setting on your phone is it? I never exceed mine as email always gets deleted from my phone so I don't know what happens if you do.

(Account settings/Fetching Mail/Local folder size - a guess mind!!)

Thanks for the reply I have tried this and it has no effect but that only restricts the size accepted all my mail are way below 32kb as I've checked them on my pc.
The puzzling thing is how it just stopped on a certain date and clearing data within the app and re-installing doesn't change a thing
