Hello,
I run a volunteer program to assist students with print disabilities (dyslexia).
I have spent all day trying to find an ebook "I Heard The Owl Call My Name" but without luck. I am trying to find an ebook reader that will read the text outloud while the student follows along. the iPad and iTouch accessiblity option is not really great--as you have to select each line one at a time. The voice is terrible for reading a story out loud.
If anyone has figured out how to access ebooks and cut and paste into Word or PDF format we have screen reading software that will read the text. The issue is finding this particular ebook in PDF or Word format.
So questions are:
does anyone have or know where to find this book online in ebook format or scanned in Word format?
does anyone know which ebook software has text to speech built in?
I found out in another forum that adode reader ver. 7 had text to speech but the newer versions don't. I gather Kindle's had a similar function but the copy write laws demanded it was removed.
We are trying to level the playing field for bright students that have trouble reading--if anyone can help we would sincerely appreciate the help.
Jesse
