Help Help with handwriting?

I keep trying to download handwriting languages, and i keep getting the message "cannot download because of permissions" or something like that. I looked in Apps > permissions, but i am not sure just what needs permissions. I thought maybe it was keyboard? But even in system apps, thats not listed. I thought it might be messaging but that has full permissions. What am i missing? Heck, for that matter, what even is handwriting? A different font or something maybe? I included a few screen shots. As always, thanks in advance for any feed back. Im excited to try out more new features this phone brings!

Two ideas:

(1) Download Google Handwriting input from the Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.handwriting.ime

(2) Enable downloads from 3rd parties

• Settings > Security > Unknown Sources > (Toggle this on)
• Allow installation of apps from sources other than Play Store

Not sure those will work, but worth a try!

Have you tried sending pictures through text yet? I just got my phone yesterday and it wouldn't let me because of the overlay permissions. I had to turn every single one off including the system ones. If you have the messaging problem like i did, check that.
