Root Help with Rooting

I am new to the whole rooting of smartphones and I recently decided to give it a try with my C771 commando (M150 update) since there doesn't seem to be as big a change of bricking the phone with this method. I am using the auto root tool 1.6.1 (M150 config) with option 2 and it is failing at the writing recovery portion of the script.

I ran root checker and it said that I did not have root access.

If need be I could dig into the code but I has been a long time since I have programmed anything and would prefer not to.

I have read your post, and am going to help by first trying to simulate your setup. Right now you have C771 unrooted with the M150 update. If there are any other special conditions that I should know, that would be great.
On a separate note, when it reboots to write the recovery.img, does it write the boot.img successfully?

i recommend you try the latest Casio Root tool, it has fixed several problems with rooting.
