Help with SD card and partitioning

I was attempting to create a new partition on my already partitioned SD card this morning. My phone no longer recognizes the SD card and when I put it back in the phone it is stuck on "Checking for errors". My phone is also rooted. The card is a 16G.

Additionally, I cannot install apps even though I have around 5oomb of space available. I keep getting the "Insufficient storage" error.

I would prefer to not have to buy a new SD card seeing as I'm a poor college student. I don't have a card reader, but could see if any of my friends have one. Also, I am using a Mac.
 
you can try the app Aparted and see if that can reformat the card inside the phone.

The no space where there is space issue I've seen from linked to SD apps getting corrupted. I've fixed it by reinstalling and relinking the app. Then you can delete it and the space will free up. Not sure if that's what you got going on
 
I've managed to get Aparted to partition my SD card. I had to go and delete the old partition before it would allow me to make a new one. Now I'm just waiting for the phone to recognize the SD card (it's currently checking for errors) and then I'll see if I can download any apps.

I bought my SD card sometime in August, so I don't think it has worn out yet. I do not have a microSD adapter.

Will provide updates. Thanks for the help so far!
 
Okay. I got the phone to recognize the card.

Link2sd wants to know which partition format to use. I have a fat32 partition and a ext4 partition.
 
Just a warning about trying to save space. Do NOT make the updated version of an app replace the one provided with the phone. IE: Don't tell L2SD to make the Updated version of YouTube a System file or copy/overwrite the one on the phone. I tried that once with ALL of my Google apps and it causes issues that linger even after a Master Reset. Things like "this google app has crashed" every 2 seconds after booting from the MR until I update the app from the market. >.<
