Help with Swype, please - installed but not active?

I had Swype before the OTA and can't believe how lost I am without it! HATE the stock keyboard.

Anyway, my version of Swype wouldn't work with the OTA so I downloaded a new one from a link posted here.

Installed fine, it says it's active in Language and Keyboard, but it won't activate on text or email or anything.

What am I missing?

Did you do the long press on a text field to select the touch input?
