Help Help with system update please

I've only had this tab for a couple of months, bought it off ebay apparently it came rooted, I downloaded a root checker app. It's still running froyo 2.2 the kernel is 2.6.32.9 root@sept-40 #3. As far as I can tell it's running the stock android. Here's the annoying thing, it keeps trying to do a system update I assume to install 2.3 gingerbread, it gets almost halfway thru the installation you know where the little box icon is on the screen then it stops a triangle shows up with an exclamation point. So far this has happened 3 times. I'd either like this to stop happening or go thru with the update and install gingerbread. Any advice on how to accomplish either one of these, please keep in mind I know nothing about rooting and what to do with something that is rooted, thanks for any help you can give.

I have rooted a SGT P1000 to upgrade it to Ice Cream Sandwich. I have never tried returning one to stock unrooted. Let me see what I can dig up.

Just wanted to reverify, when you run RootChecker, it says "Congratulations! This device has root access!"?

Is there an app called z4root in your app drawer?

This is what I get when I do root checker

The phone is rooted. I am not sure how it was rooted. Most likely it was using z4root.

I am not 100% sure but it should be possible to install z4root on the device and unroot it. It should be simple, run the app and it should show you a button that says "Unroot". After that you should be able to install the update.

Thanks I'll have my son do it since he's more tech savvy then I am. I'm gone for a week I'll post back when I get it done.
