Help with the "longtap" home button.

When I long tap the button on the left of home button on my samsung it goes straight to what I assume is a widget for google to search the web.

My Q is... is this the same for everyone and is there a way to change it.

I am puzzled as to why a long tap goes to this "google" search bar when I have an internet app on my first page.

Its the same for all samsung phones. It has the ability to search not only the internet but your phone contents like contacts, music files, notes, etc. Open the search and tap menu button (left button) then settings to toggle what kind of data to search for.

Also, this action works almost everywhere that supports in app search. For example you are in your music app and you want to search for a song, long press the button and it activates music search, in the calendar app it activates event search, and so forth.

Also the internet app on the first page is irrelevant. You can remove it any time.

Edit: this is only for Samsung phones. Other phones either have a separate search button, making it four buttons at yhe bottom, or removed it and use a persistent search bar.

Nope. My teensy Optimus has four hard buttons, one is Search, one is Home. Long-pressing Home brings up icons of recently-used apps. I think this is pretty standard on a lot of Droids, but apparently not Samsumgs.
