Help help with updating software on my htc hero

bwatt00

Lurker
I have a htc hero which was from t mobile a few years back, its since been unlocked and now using giffgaff.
A few months ago i was having trouble with phone or was it sim card,as could not send txt, tried to sort it out with giffgaff but nothing seem to work.i was able to do most other things just not txt.

Anyway i rebooted the phone and everything was working ok again, before then if i remember right the software on the phone was 1.5,i think since i put it back to factory settings its now back to 1.0.

I cant even remember how i got 1.5 on it if it was with the help of t mobile or what, anyway as im not with t mobile anymore and its still branded as t mobile i was wondering how i update the software on this.

I have no idea where to begin or where to look to i connect the phone to the pc and download the update from there is so where and what, its a uk phone just incase we get mixed with the hero from usa.

I think someone said to me if i go to settings-about phone and update this will work but yes i can go settings, about phone but there is nothing there to allow me to update,i take as this is only 1.0 going from that the latest software will be ok?what is the latest software anyway?im pretty sure when i did update it way back to 1.5 that the battery lasted longer and many other things was better so it be good to be able to update this phone once again to 1.5 or even the latest one.

I just have no idea what i need to do,where to get it etc so a step by step guide would be great and also links to what i need.

thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to AF. :)
You should see an option in your phone when you go to Settings> and you should see an option about a software update. Going to about phone will tell you the Kernel, model, software version, etc. You should be able to update your phone via OTA (Over the air) and get the latest software for that device. Or contact your carrier and see what they say about it.
