Help with wifi profiles

Any one know how to create a WI Fi profile with tasker
to turn WI Fi on when I arrive home turn off when I leave home.... Not turn WI Fi on till I get home ive tried everything plz help
 
Used cell near.... Wifi connected

I would like wifi to turn on Only when I arrive home when I create profile with cell near select home wifi

arrive work wifi connects which it should not..... I selected home wifi not work why is it connecting at work

You could make a profile that is location dependent to turn on your WiFi:

Profile:

Name: At Home
  • +
  • Location
  • New Location
  • Deselect GPS (then it will use your network to determine where you are (slightly less accurate than GPS, but doesn't kill your battery)) + change the radius to whatever suits you (I have it set at 30m)
  • At the top, hit the GSP logo, to get a fix on where you are (think I had to put the radius back down to 30m when I did this)

Tasks:

Name: WiFi On
  • +
  • Net
  • WiFi
  • WiFi On

Name: WiFi Off (this is an exit task)
  • +
  • Net
  • WiFi
  • WiFi On
 
i think you are looking for the wrong thing.
it can NOT look for any wifi.. if the wifi radio is turned off.

look for Carrier Tower connection. if you are connected to the tower in your home area.. then turn on wifi.

better for battery too
 
Don't need GPS on for the method I've mentioned. When you go in to select the location (when creating the profile), you deselect "GPS" and leave "Net" selected. This will then use your phone's network to work out where you are. This is not as accurate as using GPS to determine your location, but is fine for turning your WiFi on when you get to your location. As I said, I’ve set mine up with a 30m radius and I’ve never had any issues.

I know it is possible to set "Near Tower" as a trigger but, using my method, I've set up a couple of locations (work/home/parents/friends) that then start my tasks :)

If you want to use the same method as I have, in the "Profiles" tab of Tasker, pess "+" (to create a new profile) and select "Location", then "New Location". There are 2 grey buttons at the bottom left of the screen - turn off GPS, but leave Net on (this way your phone will use the network to work out where it is, rather than GPS). Once you've pinpointed where your location is and you go back to the "Profiles" tab, you can then name that location "Home" (or whatever). You then create a "WiFi On" and "WiFi Off" task (as enter and exit tasks) :)

Watched video..... This is how I set mine up...... When I arrive work.... Phone connects to work wifi..... why is it connecting at work

Not sure, as I don't use this profile. I guess your work and your home are not next door to each other, so don't share the same cell tower?
 
for mine.. i put the cell towers.. for all important wifi locations....
on one task profile. no need for different profiles for each.

so.. any time i am within one of these many towers.. turn on wifi.
then the wifi radio will do its work and search for known wifi signals.. and connect.
 
I thought the point of setting this up with cell near while at home is so I could use it to ONLY connect if I arrive at cell near home
 
i see.. what you are trying to say now.

ok.. you need to create and "exit" task.. in that profile too.

when you go home... it turns on wifi.
when you leave home.. it needs and "exit" task to turn it off.
 
had exit task set up the way video States...... Leave home wifi will disconnect.... Perfect

Arrived work wifi connects no good.... Becoming very frustrated
 
so.. they only cell tower.. in the profile. is the one near your home?
and NOTHING about work towers. right?

do you know how to take screen shots?
take some of your setup. post it here. so we can see it

also.. just to try something...
delete the profiles you created.
uninstall Tasker.
pull the battery on your phone.
re-install Tasker
re-create from scratch the profiles. Only for your home.
try it and see.
