Help help with zt180

hi all,my 1st post.
i bought my daughter a zt180 for xmas last year.purchased nov 2010.
all good until recently,switch it on and it goes no further than the ANDROID_ bit.
last saturday i spent 5hours trying to update it having read here that updating was the problem.
im not very literate on computers so it all needs to be plain english sorry.
i think my problem is the driver part...i switch on in usb mode connected to mini usb lead(i have 2 now,,thinking 1 wasnt working)
my laptop on windows vista or the lads on windows 7 wont recognise.
so basically im asking for help on how to get drivers and which update do i download?
i have a friend who could help me but its getting hold of him and to be honest i hate being BEATEN by technology..im 40 and when the kids think your rubbish because you cant mend computers it hits home that im might be getting behind the times a bit.

thank you for responding blaw.
i dont know which model it is?i purchased it nov 2010.
i cannot get it to load up past the part where ANDROID_ appears.
any tip on finding the model?i have the very vague instruction manual and the box it came in.

the model and serial should be on a sticker on side of tablet. zenithink.com has firmware downloads. get a microsd card and format it to fat32 file system. microsd s
hould be at least 2 gig. goto zenithink site, then click on download tab, then zt180, then zt180-102

if you dont know which version of tablet u have just start with the first firmware listed on zenithink.com. if that one doesnt work try the next one.

step one- put sd in computer and make a new folder named zt-update
step 2- download firmware from zenithink and extract it
step 3- take that extracted file and put it zt-update folder on microsd
step 4- put microsd in tablet
step 5- hold round button on face of tablet and power button same time till the screen lights up and it should say zt-update found. then the rest is done automaticaly. be sure to have power plugged into tablet during this whole process.

there is no sticker so i will do as you said.
my laptop has no slot for sd card but ill check the kids...if they dont then could i insert sd card in camera and effectivley use the camera as a card reader?
might sound silly but just a thought on my part as a means of getting info from laptop to card.
also...how do i format card?

you should be able to use camera to get info from computer to camera but not gonna be able to format card that way. to format card you will have to use a computer. if you can find computer with a card reader insert the card, click on start menu then click on computer, then right click on sd card, then format, then fat32. once formated try downloading this firmware from zenithink.com first (

yay!!!!!!!!!!
i done it!
tried again today by downloading the firmware from elonex..at first i couldnt put the drivers on then i realised i needed to open the elonex folder manually(doh)
i then opened the burntool and and it was green....then start then it was automatic.
it now works.
thank you blaw.i used the mini usb method.
i have also purchased a card reader and 2gb mini sd card from ebay.
so now it works i intend on her getting the best from it...so,am i right in thinking if i put the card in the reader and plug in laptop i can download things to card and just stick it into tablet?it will read it automatic?
1 more thing...where can i get free apps and games?
