Welcome to the Android Forums!
When your phone is connected to your PC via USB you should be able to copy files onto the phone. Normally try to copy them into a sub-directory called music or something like that. In some cases you may even need to check the type of USB connection established (you can see and change this on the pull-down notification bar).
