Hope someone can help me, before I smash this thing in a fit of rage. My predictive text keeps predicitng contacts from my phone book. There seems to be no reason (for example 'in' becomes Serap') and it is really difficult to select the word you want. I've tried three different messaging apps and it's all the same!
Please help!

You need to change the keyboard or at least the settings of the keyboard you are using. The Android one has an option to turn auto complete off.

The HTC keyboard it pretty good from here and SwiftKey is not bad.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. Tried this, tried everything. I'd like autocomplete on if possible, but just not for it to also use my phone contacts! It also doesn't relate to what I start with - for example 'one becomes 'Monica' even with qwerty keyboard. Any more suggestions?

Have you synced your contacts to Timescape? I think this causes the keyboard to use your contacts names.

I have no idea, but mine has started doing this but I have fully rooted and have no mediascape or timescape on the phone!

It never used to do it but after my swype expired the 2 keyboards on the phone would only come up with whats described by the OP with names from contacts popping up if I used auto complete. Updated swype and no issues but not used the other keyboards...
