My roommate gave me her droid 2 cus it has no service. I want to root it and ad roms and overclock it. However, I have no idea what I'm doing. I ran a one step root program, and it said it was rooted but all it did was get a stuck p button, so I ran the unroot, but I really want to understand what I'm doing.

I have never flashed a ROM and when I checked out the link above it says that if you do not already have GB to just "flash the zip file like any other ROM". Does that mean to go into D2 bootstrapper and choose "install zip from SD Card"?

Were I to do that, could I use bootstrapper to put my phone back to the way it is now, if I do a backup before I flash this ROM? I might not like the new ROM.
