Root HELP!!!!!!!!!

I flashed TWRP in my Prevail, then i tried to do a clean installation of CM7 because i was having issues with it. After I flashed the ROM everything was ok but when i was downloading my apps I ran out of memory and tried to create a partition using TWRP, I tried both options EXT3 and EXT4 but instead of creating a partition TWRP re-flashed CM7, the recovery said that the partition was successfully created but when i booted up all my data had been deleted (That's why i said that TWRP re-flashed the ROM) and there wasn't a partition in my phone. I went back to CWM which i got it from this link ( I used ODIN and also flashed the stick.zip file)

http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...m-recovery-utility-update-01-12-12-fixed.html

After that i had the same issues with CWM. Does anyone knows how to fix this because i can't download all my apps. I will also flash CWM again using ODIN.

If you flash cm7, it uses the sdext as /data by default.

so, if you format the card, you're wiping the '/data' partition effectively 'factory resetting' your phone. IIRC, cm7 won't even boot without having a sdext. (unless you flash a non-ext kernel. As the default one is the mapsfix-ext kernel)

Also, was the card wiped? If so, i would bet that the partitioning probably succeeded

Sounds like the sd was not partitioned and formatted right. Try again in cwm or use koumas partitioner tool.

The card was wiped but i din't flashed the maps fix. Should I do it and then try to partition the sd card again?

Iirc, the maps fix kernel is the one used in the cm7b5.zip... I could be wrong, as i use katokernel. (which is based on the maps-fix kernel)

How are you determining that the partitioning is failing?

Btw, after you partition the sdcard, you need to flash the phone to ext4 as well. Just reflash the rom from the zip file

it didn't work, the partition tool didn't work either. What should I do??
this is a dumb question but Can I install the themechooser.apk if I'm using CTmod??

Seems like to me you have a problem with your sd-card, if you can't partition it....

Maybe try a different card.

I have like 5-7 different sd-cards, all of them work in any device ( camera, mp3 player, etc. ) and on the computer, but ONE card, just this particular one, I cannot partition and format in the phone !!

I think it's a CWM issue because i tried another sd-card and also flashed CTMod and i couldn't partition the sd-card.

What brand are your two sd-cards what you tried ??? Have you tried a different brand ? I mean, no one else seems to have this problem, but you, so I think it must be something on your side..... As I said, some sd-cards ( or brands ) might not play well on the Prevail !!

What are you selecting for the size in cwm? The first number is for the ext, the second is for use with a swap enabled kernel.

For the basic setup, you could try 512 for the first number and 0 for swap. That will give you half a gig for app storage.

As Vce said, nobody else seems to be having this problem, so there has to be something that you are overlooking.

I tried two different sd-cards both are 2GB Sandisk, those are the ones that come with the phone, but what is weird is that i was able to partition it the first time installed the ROM

Try formatting the card with your computer. Or better yet buy a different brand SD card.

I tried every option on my computer but that didn't work either,I'm going to buy another sd-card and try again but what i think is weird is the fact that i was able to format those cards without any problems when i first flashed CM7

Pm one of the mods, they can tell you, but I thing you may need to talk to phases.

If you send a PM to Phases or EarlyMon, they can help you.

If you have any trouble finding either one, just hit the report button on one of your posts and explain that you would like to change your name. The proper admin will contact you then. :)

I would link you both above, but I'm on my phone at the moment. My apologies. :o
