my acer tablet will not connect to the internet what do I do

Sorry to say, but we really need more information.
What tablet exactly are you referring to (model)? Is there a working internet connection available? Have you confirmed it is working by using another device on it? Fire up the old laptop to see if it connects to the web through your router to make sure the problem isn't there.
Is your tablet in airplane mode? Is the wifi on? If you open up the wifi settings, do you see the available networks?
Tell you what. I think you should join the community/sign up (it's free) and that way you can go to the specific forum for your tablet and you can participate in the conversation and help us help you.
