I am new to the Verizon Droid Eris by HTC and the battery life won't even last over like 3 hours. My mom said that Verizon said that the more you charge it the better the battery gets. . . and my last phone was the Palm Pre and it was true for that but is it true this time ?
 
With any battery, (in my opinion) its good practice to wait to charge the phone until the battery gets near completely dead, and taking it off the charger when it is completely full. This actually prolongs your battery life. I do this with my Eris and I'm a power user - I find I can go two days without charging.
