Do any of my fellow US users have this same issue? When you turn your phone on does the phone first not read the SIM card then it starts reading it before getting the AT&T(or tmobile) logo?

Also, do you sometimes not get receive SMS messages?

I have seen the no sim thing happen once but it occurred when I was updating the rom. I dont believe it happened before or after.

I have some wierd issues with sms's come in reverse order. kinda annoying.

Yeah so this used to happen to me every time I opened my phone for a little bit. What I learned was that the sim card just so happened to be lose. Make sure it's snapped in.

The only other time I now get it is any time I go underground (subway) and when I pop up every now and then it'll give me that no sim for a sec. I just ignore it and open it up and it'll connect.

Wouldn't worry about the "no sim". Mine does that when it drops out of coverage, and I'm in the UK.
