Hey, a question about rooting...

telez

Newbie
As im still fairly new to the android OS and ive rooted my first android phone (samsung moment) then a week after i got the phone i realized i didnt like it much so i went out and got the HTC evo 4g... and i was wondering the only thing i really used the root for is tethering... now that i already have tethering whats some of the points to rooting my HTC evo 4g?

Not trying to be rude, but did you search at all? There are HUNDREDS of threads about what you can do with root, and if you do a search on google, you will find hundreds more.

I understand that but im ip banned from google for attempting to hack their servers and they wont allow me to use a proxie :(

Well, how I look at it is: Don't root just for the sake of rooting (Unless that kind of thing does it for you). Only root if you run into an obstacle you need to overcome. Then, root to overcome the obstacle in your way.

If all you need is wifi tethering, and it comes stock, by all means, stay stock. Don't feel like you need to root.

@PSKeptic I understand that... but if i did root what would be the benefits is basically what im asking.

Well, like I said, the benefits come when you need to overcome something you want to do. There really is no benefit to yourself if you never need anything that rooting might make available to you (Such as custom ROM's, etc).

i am not sure what to think here.....

you attempted to hack into google...
but not sure what the benifits are for rooting..
something dont add up for me.

searching this website.. does it access google??

Dude, WTF? Seriously? Why the hell did you attempt to hack Google's servers?

To answer your question though, the ROMs. Seriously, the ROMs out there remove the crappy bloatware, have performance and battery life enhancements, awesome themes, and other nifty things. Rooting is always good with the strong developer support that Android has.
