Hi,

I'm still on an L7 and while it's still a good phone for making calls, it's not good for much more than that.

I have my eyes on the Nexus One / HTC Desire. Unfortunately in my country prices of any kind of a smartphone are ridiculously high, no matter how old it gets. That's why I've looked around on the internet for a good deal. I'm interested in getting a brand new phone and not a used one.

The problem is I don't know how the HTC warranty works exactly. I contact HTC to ask about warranty and they told me they needed an IMEI or a S/N. I got an IMEI from a seller but when I gave it to HTC they said they don't have the phone in their database and I should contact the 'retailer' about warranty.

Of course they are probably not a retailer at all, though I did find a seller that offered the phone for a slightly higher price but says they print sale invoices.

My question is if I have proof of purchase (sale invoice) and a brand new unused phone that hasn't been obtained from a 'retailer' (i.e. a carrier), can I still register my phone online and enjoy at least a 1 year manufacturer warranty?

I guess I probably should have made a new thread about my question, but anyway, I wanted to greet you all first and just went on with my concerns.

Regards,
V
