Hi emerie :wavey:

Welcome to the forums. :) I'm not familiar with your phone but check the Galaxy Ace forums for some tips and help. For rooting check the Ace All Things Root forum.

After you root, if you use the TWRP recovery, there is an option for backing up your efs folder when you do a nandroid backup.

Thanks for signing up. Good rooting luck and have fun! :D

Try this thread maybe? It says it works for the GT-S5830D.

Check this thread for backing up your data, like pics. http://androidforums.com/faqs/697582-backup-routine-us-all.html The windows backup script is easy to use.

Sync your contacts with Google to back them up.

To backup your efs you can use EFS Pro. The only problem, you have to be rooted first.

To backup apps and their data, try Carbon.

To backup text messages use SMS Backup.

Hi emerie. I moved this thread to the Ace All Things Root forum for you so other Ace users can help you out. :)

Clockworkmod is a recovery where you can back up your system by doing a nandroid backup and also where you can install roms. Cyanogenmod is a rom. Cyanogenmod 10.1 is a Jellybean rom. Usually when you flash a cyanogenmod rom you also need to install gapps (google apps).

The thread starter/Developer will usually tell you if you need Gapps or not for their particular custom rom and may even include the specific gapps. Generally, if its a CyanogenMod rom, you will need to install Gapps. For Jelly Bean 4.1.2 roms use 20121011. For Jelly Bean 4.2.1 roms use 20121212, for Jelly Bean 4.2.2 rom use 20130301. For ICS roms use 20120429.

So i dowloaded root browser from the play stor and im having a hard time finding the efs fil cansomeone help me find this fil on me phone thankd

So i dowloaded efs pro on the pc went to run it and told me to termanate kies and dident run so im not to sure what to do im sure theirs a way to copie theese files

So i got efs to work and

Ran program says error: cant locate mount point efs backup failed operation finished............ What am i doing wrong

emerie, from what I've been able to find you can't backup the efs folder on your phone because there isn't one. It looks like the efs is actually a partition. Backing that up doesn't look easy and restoring is complicated. You can take a look through some of these threads.
