I don't think that option is available. I looked through the notification settings and display settings and don't see anything like that.

Wait, does your screen not do that automatically? That's strange, my screen always turns on for a few seconds when i receive a message. Interesting. Umm, if you are rooted, there might be a module out there that does that for xposed installer. Other than that, sorry. Honestly, it's probably for the better since it drains less battery (that's why notification lights were invented, so the screen doesn't have to turn on and kill battery!).

Actually, google may have removed it. I'm assuming you used to have this since you said you liked it when the screen lite up. Yeah, it's probably one of the changes google made since my phone is still running jellybean, it's very likely that google edited the screen lite up notification in the kitkat/ lollipop updates.

damn noobs, it's under the settings for your text messaging client. only compatible with insecure lockscreens. although I agree with the dev on why would you want it to wake, but to each their own.
