Hey - new to android

Hey Hey people,

Just got my first android phone after seeing googles keynote at IO (come over from the iphone) and very tempted to root it to get the full android experience.

Signed up here to find out info and get help and advice.

I wanted to get the Galaxy nexus so I could have the un-skinned android experience, but it seems to have been discontinued everywhere, so i settled with the S3

Looking forward to delving headfirst into android :)

The Galaxy Nexus had a bit of trouble (patent dispute) but is available every where again. The S3 looks like a beast though and will most likely be the best selling android phone for a while. You can't go wrong with it
 
Yeah I read about the patent trouble, but I was told that it wasn't selling very well over here (UK) so they stopped selling it in lieu of the s3 which is a shame.

so I'm looking to get the stock android experience on my s3. Guessing this is the place to find out info about that?

I've seen step by step instructions online, but would feel safer getting all my queries and questions answered first.

I hear ya there. SG3 won't be a 'stock' android device though. It will have Samsung custom UI on it, called Touchwiz.

You should be able to get the Nexus right from the Play Market, probably full price that way though :(
