I bought my first Android phone a couple of weeks ago - discovered these forums a day or so after. 
Not only is it my first Android, it's my first smart phone and I'm in love with it. It's an LG Thrive* and even though it's supposed to be "the bottom-of-the-line phone partially crippled by AT&T" it is light years beyond anything I've had before.

*I believe the Thrive is the same as the Phoenix, it's just a no-contract phone.
