Hi all

Glad to be a part of the android community.

I wish google could have all the android OS licencees (Device manufacturers) to carry atleast one device that is made to google's specs so that the customers donot have to painfully wait for years or get completely ignored on updates to the latest versions of the android OS.

If the device manufacturers cannot make sustainable devices that cannot even last 2 OS upgrade cycles, there is no meaning to stick around just for the glory of the Android OS when there are no viable devices that cater to the end users but treat them like their slaves.

I can hardly see any future for this platform if there is no solution in sight for the crux of this market. THE CUSTOMER.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

Unfortunately a company with a piece of fruit as it's emblem helped to change the industry dynamic by releasing new versions of their handset every year instead of supporting and improving their existing handset over the longer term. Other phone manufacturers seem to have adopted a similar philosophy so now the useful lifespan of a smartphone is about one year...

Though Apple upgrades its phone once a year, Their iOS spans atleast last three versions of iphone. So iphone users don't have buy a new version of the iphone every year.

I still think Google should have all the device manufacturers carry atleast one phone with common specs so that it can evolve and the let users be a part of the evolution and not get stuck behind older android OS version due to incompetent hardware manufacturers.

I'm concerned that this will be a big blow to the platform in the long run if the android users have to survive on Mod community to deliver the latest features that come with froyo, gingerbread and honeycomb ..............
