Hi everyone, Android Newbie, iphone user here

buttonstc

Newbie
I just scored a great deal on an Acer Iconia A100 Tablet ($189.00) and I'm thril
ed with it so far.

But the OS is another story altogether. Obviously, the intuitiveness of IOS has thoroughly spoiled me and I'm finding it a very steep
earning curve indeed.

I was selighted to discover the forums here and hopefully you'll all have some patience for the flood of really really basic Qs I have buzzing around in my head :)

If there is such a thing as a very very basic tutorial for total Android Dummies like me, I'd certainly appreciate a link or two. That way I can hopefully avoid boring everyone with simple Qs about the best way to control
The cursor in order to correct obvious typos (and other similar stuff like that)

Thanks in advance for your patience humor and forbearance :)

Hello buttonstc. Welcome to Android Forums. Don't over stress the Os. It's far more intuitive than it seems at first. Follow the link that lunatic so kindly provided and you will be in great company. Congrats on the tab and I hope you enjoy it and these forums.

I already went there before posting here and its totally empty. Not a single post :(

But my understanding is (from tech reviews read before purchase) that the OS is pure Android Honeycomb, totally untampered with or customized as so many other companies are wont to do. The consensus seemed to be that this was a distinct advantage.

I'm really hoping this proves to be true ;)

I remember when I first came to an Android device.. from an early blackberry. The first couple of days.. I had so much freedom of choice and options that I was over stressing exactly how I wanted to set it up. Later I realized that's the fun of it all.
Set it up.. change it to later. Time to change it again to accommodate my desire for something different. Now it's all fun.. ALL Fun lol. Just play with it. You will have fun discovering and customizing it. And... there is a general tablet forum that is a bit more active that you might want to check into for some tips. Here is that link:
General Tablet Talk - Android Forums Just remember we all started at the same place.. the beginning so don't be afraid to ask.

@lunatics59

I'm so glad I clicked on the link you posted. What a surprise.

But none of that was showing when I went over there prior to posting here.

Something is weird???

Thanks to both you and @olbriar for your helpful links.

You are welcome. I just did notice you had a question. To subscribe to a thread: once you are in that thread you can scroll toward the top of the thread and you will see the tab options of Link Back, Thread Tools, Search This Thread, etc...
Pull down the Thread tools and you will see a place to subscribe. Have fun.

Welcome to Android Forum! I too am jumping from iOS to Android. I'm waiting on the Asus Transformer Prime to ship which should be in the next week or two. Thanks for taking the time to come sign up and say hi. I Hope you enjoy you stay on AF

Thanks for the welcome. I had originally written you a reply which the tablet disappeared into the ether somehow so I'm using iPhone now.

It looks like you're rather experienced here on AF (or at least have asked a lot of Qs) and I must admit to being pleasantly surprised to find another iPhone user on an Android Forum.

I have so many Qs but don't know if the issues are specifically related to the AOS or to the device.
