Hi all, I'm Tim and live in the West Midlands, UK.
My first and currently only taste of Android ownership is my GS2, something I was 100% happy with, even over the moon with right up until Teusday.
Teusday was the day I made the unfortunate step of downloading ICS onto my phone. Previously I was running the last version of Gingerbread, a system I took to very well. I couldn't realy fault it tbh. With all the hype around ICS I couldn't wait to download it.
Having had it now for a couple of days I can only see it as a step sideways and not realy a progression. I can cirtainly see it working better on a tablet, just not so much on a phone. There are some things I like but those that I don't:
Getting to App Killer: Gingerbread just hold down the menu key, ICS- hold down the menu key, then navigate through another menu.
The feeds/messaging menu. I liked the social hub in Gingerbread, in ICS it's just become a mess. It immediately sends you to the feeds screen, which I don't like, then when you go to messaging it shows you ALL your messaging before having to go to another menu before being able to select the one account I'm interested in. Sorry it's just a mess and it's not as slick as before.
It also now takes a year to update my emails.
I think google could have reworked Gingerbread a little to add some bonus features, such as the panorama photo, as opposed getting us to download ICS. Another area wher eit seems just pointless is the facial recognition, it warns you not to use it!
Had google had just paid attention to a few small flaws if Gingerbread I would've been happy. Even better would have been Samsung making the music player a bit slicker. As it stands I'm confused as to what all the fuss is about with ICS. I hope they don't make the same mistake with Jellybean.
Any other GS2 owners feel the same?
