Hi From new tablet user

I am a new owner of Galaxy Note 10.1 and being well over 50 am getting to grips with it, so to speak. I just discovered that by downloading es file explorer I can create shortcuts but am now baffled by small text that appears in the top right hand corner of the screen, looks like the inner workings of the operating system.
Probably something I did while trying to create shortcuts.
